GRANDMA FRANCES RECIPES- LEMON LOAF

INGREDIENTS:

1 cup sugar

1/2 cup Crisco or veg shortening

2 eggs

grated rind of 1 lemon

1/2 cup milk

1 1/2 cup flour

1 tsp baking powder

1/2 tsp salt


Preheat oven to 350 F

Cream sugar and shortening

Add eggs and mix at low speed

Add lemon rind, flour, baking powder, and salt

Gradually add milk while mixing


Pour in loaf pan and bake for 35 - 40 min


GLAZE

Mix 1/2 cup sugar and juice of one lemon

Spoon over cake while still warm

Let stand to cool for 5 hours before serving
